The All-New BMW S 1000 R Launched In India

BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new BMW S 1000 R in India. The roadster will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and can be booked at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships from today onwards.

Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The second generation of the all-new BMW S 1000 R is designed as a power-packed roadster with supreme riding dynamics, athletic character combined with maximum safety and everyday practicality. We are delighted to offer yet another masterpiece for riding enthusiasts in India. It is a unique blend between fast sporty runs and track day fun.”

The motorcycle is available in three variants at the following ex-showroom prices –

The all-new BMW S 1000 R Standard – INR 17,90,000

The all-new BMW S 1000 R Pro – INR 19,75,000

The all-new BMW S 1000 R Pro M Sport – INR 22,50,000

The second generation of the all-new BMW S 1000 R is significantly more masculine and sharply defined. Sharp edges and accentuated beads clearly emphasises the precision of the machine. It is derived from the BMW S 1000 RR and enhances its character as a dynamic roadster. The ‘tail up – nose down’ look gives the all-new BMW S 1000 R an eye-catchingly visual impact along with its new body elements. It visually conveys a low weight, sporty lightness and a high level of riding performance. The new LED headlamp lends an even more muscular look. The fuel tank side panels, the tank center cover, the side panels in the shape of a stylised ‘R’ and the engine spoiler have also been redesigned. They also convey pure power for riding fun on urban roads and very fast laps on the racetrack. The new design is accompanied by ergonomic refinements such as a reversible handlebar clamp for increased reach and better riding position and options for the seat height adjustment.

The racing genes are amplified with the colour concept highlighting the sporty appearance of the all-new BMW S 1000 R. In addition to the basic colour Racing Red non- metallic, the M Motorsport paint finishes are available with the Style Sport and the M package options. The Style Sport option with the basic colour Hockenheim Silver metallic, in combination with Matt Copper metallic components such as the rear frame section and engine side covers as well as grey anodised components, emphases the technical highlights of the roadster. The all-new BMW S 1000 R is the first model in BMW Motorrad’s portfolio to inherit the iconic colours of the all-new BMW M 1000 RR. The exclusive M Motorsport paint finish is reserved for the M package with the base colour Light White non-metallic in combination with Light Blue, Dark Blue and Red.

The all-new BMW S 1000 R is fitted with a newly developed water cooled 4-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 999 cc. It is based on the all-new BMW S 1000 RR engine, which has been comprehensively modified for sporty performance. It generates a peak output of 165 hp (121 kW) at 11,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm to deliver supreme level of engine power. The all-new BMW S 1000 R sprints from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and can achieve maximum speed of 250 kmph. (Electronically Limited)

The engine speed range is wider, fuller and more harmonious with improved rideability due to the linear torque curve. The 4th, 5th and 6th gears now have longer gear ratios thus reducing the noise and fuel consumption as well as the engine speed level, especially at cruising speeds. In addition to a smoother, self-reinforcing anti-hopping clutch, the all-new BMW S 1000 R is equipped with engine drag torque control (MSR) for the first time as an optional extra. The engine drag torque control prevents the rear wheel from slipping due to abrupt throttling or downshifting.

The newly engineered suspension of the all-new BMW S 1000 R has enhanced riding dynamics and significantly reduced weight as compared to the predecessor model. It features a ‘Flex Frame’ which is the optimum interplay between the frame design and the engine as a load-bearing element. It improves the aerodynamics of the motorcycle and helps keep the weight low. The new suspension geometry results in clearer, improved feedback from the front and rear wheel. It further increases agility, feedback, ride precision and enhances the mechanical grip of the rear wheel.

For ideal adaptation to varied conditions of use, the all-new BMW S 1000 R is fitted with the four modes ‘Rain’, ‘Road’, ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Dynamic Pro’ as standard. These enable individual adaptation of the most diverse control functions such as Engine (throttle), Engine Brake, Traction Control, Wheelie-Control, ABS and ABS Pro to suit the rider’s own skill level and riding style. The fully configurable ‘Dynamic Pro’ mode is also available with a particularly wide range of setting options as part of the ‘Riding Modes Pro’ option. With ‘Riding Modes Pro’, the all-new BMW S 1000 R also features the ‘Engine Brake’ function in conjunction with the engine drag torque control (MSR) and the ‘Power Wheelie’ function. As part of the “Riding Modes Pro” option, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) additionally supports the rider during emergency braking manoeuvres.

The Multifunctional instrument panel – the 6.5-inch TFT display – of the all-new BMW S 1000 R offers an unrivalled level of quality in terms of display and information in its segment. The Pure Ride screen displays the essentials or one of three Core Ride screens that display other important information. BMW Motorrad multi-controller gives the rider quick access to vehicle and connectivity functions. The all-new S 1000 R is equipped with BMW Motorrad Connectivity App, practical arrow navigation with route import and multiple waypoint guidance on the display.

A comprehensive range of optional equipment and original BMW Motorcycle accessories is available for further individualisation of the all-new BMW S 1000 R.

Series Production Of The Skoda Kushaq SUV Begins

Production of the Kushaq has begun at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited plant in Chakan, Pune, with deliveries to customers scheduled to start in July. The Skoda Kushaq is the first series-produced model to be manufactured locally in India as part of the India 2.0 project. The SUV is based on the MQB-A0-IN version of the Modular Transverse Toolkit developed specifically for the Indian market. The new SUV combines a bold design with the spaciousness typical of a Skoda, a high degree of comfort, extensive safety features, efficient TSI engines and modern infotainment systems.

Thomas Schafer, CEO of Skoda Auto, says: “The start of production of the new ŠKODA Kushaq marks the beginning of a new era for our brand on the Indian subcontinent. ŠKODA AUTO is responsible for all the Volkswagen Group’s activities in the region as part of the INDIA 2.0 project. The Kushaq signals the start of a product campaign with four new models from the ŠKODA and Volkswagen brands. These will be based on the MQB-A0-IN version of the Modular Transverse Toolkit, which was tailored to the specific requirements of the Indian market. I am convinced that the Kushaq will be very well received by customers.”

Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, added: “The production roll out of the first car under the India 2.0 project marks a historic milestone for ŠKODA AUTO and the Volkswagen Group in India. It stands testament to a great collaboration between our teams across the globe and here in India. We have managed to achieve localisation levels up to 95 per cent, which truly puts the engineering and manufacturing expertise of India on the global map. With ŠKODA Kushaq, we will be present in one of the fastest growing segments of the automotive industry. We look forward to offering customers an SUV that stands out for its emotive design, unmatched performance, superior build quality, outstanding safety, and numerous Simply Clever solutions, enabling an exemplary value proposition.”

The name of the mid-size SUV is derived from Indian Sanskrit. In the millennia-old “language of the gods”, which is still used today, the word “kushak” denotes a king or an emperor. This is a perfect match for the powerful appearance of the new Skoda Kushaq. With modern and efficient TSI engines, its striking design, modern infotainment systems, a high level of comfort and safety features as well as the myŠKODA Connect & Skoda Play app, the new SUV is optimally primed for the successful launch of the brand’s model campaign on the Indian market.

The technical basis for the new Skoda Kushaq and future volume models is the locally designed and manufactured MQB-A0-IN platform. The platform is aligned with the new, stricter safety and emission specifications for India. Skoda has constructed a new MQB- A0-IN production line at the Pune plant, thereby achieving a localisation depth of up to 95 per cent. The development of this platform was largely carried out at the Technology Centre in Pune, which opened in January 2019. With their considerable technological expertise and in-depth knowledge of the local market conditions, the team of local employees can respond to changing customer needs more effectively, more flexibly and therefore much more quickly.

Skoda Auto has lead responsibility for the Volkswagen Group’s activities in the Indian market. Within the framework of the INDIA 2.0 project, Skoda Auto has lead responsibility in the Volkswagen Group for the MQB A0-IN platform and at the same time for an entire region. The Volkswagen Group is investing a total of one billion euros in the country between 2019 and 2022. The aim is to sustainably strengthen the Group’s position in this strategically important growth market. In 2020, around three million vehicles were sold in India, with a population of more than 1.3 billion people. In addition to the Indian market, Skoda Auto also oversees the regions of North Africa and Russia, including the CIS states.

Dacia : A Romanian Legend

From its creation in 1968, Dacia has grown to become a truly international brand. Since Renault Group acquired it in 1999, its successful philosophy remains the same – offering the essential at the best price.

Now present in 44 countries and with over seven million customers, Dacia has always adapted to the times and has no intention of standing still. In a world that is increasingly complex, the brand continues to appeal to its vast audience that has opted for a simpler and more straightforward way of life.

Dacia was born with one clear objective: to provide modern, robust, and economical cars for all Romanians. Its name is directly inspired by the name of the territory of present-day Romania, which in ancient times was called “Dacia”.

Gabriel Sorescu, Product Manager at Dacia UK, is someone who lives and breathes the Dacia brand. As a Romanian native with a colourful history of owning Dacia models, including a 1970s Dacia 1300 to his current Duster, Gabriel shares his experiences of the brand. He said: “My first Dacia was very basic. It was just me and the car, but it represented freedom and spontaneity. Dacias were everywhere in Romania growing up, and having my first one made me discover my love for cars.”

In 1999, guided by Louis Schweitzer, Dacia joined Renault Group. A few years later, in 2004, the next chapter of Dacia was born with the launch of the Logan. Initially designed for emerging markets, the modern, robust and, above all, accessible family saloon sold at an unbeatable price of 5,000 euros. It became a huge commercial success in western Europe, revolutionising the car market by offering a new vehicle for the price of a used car.

Gabriel, who also owned a Logan, said: “The Logan was the car that really made me realise Dacia had taken a huge step forward. I had mine (my third Dacia at this point) for seven years – it was reliable, economical – not even a single fault or breakdown. I just changed the oil and filters and was always ready to drive. It made it easy to understand why Dacia had become so popular around the world so quickly.”

The Sandero arrived in 2008 as Dacia’s second major launch under Renault Group. It has gone on to become Dacia’s biggest success story to date thanks to its unbeatable blend of practicality and value for money. Sandero is Europe’s number one car for private sales.

In 2010, Dacia broke the rules once again, this time offering the most affordable SUV on the market – the Duster. An attractive vehicle with true go-anywhere capabilities at an accessible price. The rugged and robust SUV was another hit.

In 2013, Dacia made a strong entrance to the UK market with the second-generation Sandero – arriving as the UK’s cheapest new car on sale – available alongside the Sandero Stepway and Duster to offer a completely new proposition to British buyers.

The story continues with a revolution currently underway with the Spring, the lowest-priced electric car on the European market. Dacia has broken the mould with this new car, bringing electric mobility within everyone’s reach.

Over the years, the brand has been able to adapt to its customers’ needs, whilst offering a unique proposition that resonates with the times. Gabriel commented: “There’s something in the Dacia DNA that makes customers really love their cars, with a strong community who love to come together.”

From design to sale, via manufacturing and transport, the brand remains faithful to its strategy of optimising costs at every step, so that its customers pay only for what they need.

The brand’s ambition is to conquer new territory – particularly the C-segment – based on a unique and effective business model, with a wider range that continues to focus on essential customer needs. The Bigster Concept, unveiled in January 2021 at the presentation of the Renaulution strategic plan, will lead this charge.

Denis Le Vot, CEO Dacia and LADA brands said: “Dacia will always be Dacia and will continue to offer reliable models that make sense to the customers, a smart purchase that gives best value for money. With the creation of the Dacia/LADA business unit, we will make the most of the CMF-B modular platform, increase our efficiency and improve the quality, competitiveness, and appeal of our products further. We have everything to hand to reach the highest peaks. The Bigster Concept shows us the way.”

With the Bigster Concept, Dacia will be even more attractive, more adventurous, yet still accessible and focused on offering the essential for an SUV of its segment. It makes bold choices with untreated recycled materials for the external protective trim, simple lines and robust proportions. Dacia is becoming a byword for escape as its customers have the chance of unique, real, and uncomplicated experiences.

Gabriel commented: “Even back in my student days we’d take spontaneous road trips to the mountains. It took all day, but it was an adventure. On one trip I even met my best half, and my Dacia became a significant part in the story of my life there and then. I think that attachment to Dacias still resonates with buyers today – they feel that their cars are part of the family. Back in Romania customers were very loyal to Dacia, and I’m happy this quality has translated to other markets, and what Dacia stands for is continuing to strike a chord.”

To embody its brand vision, Dacia is readying itself to write a new chapter in its history with a completely new visual identity. One that offers freedom, authenticity and to reconnect with our environment and share simple pleasures with those closest to us.

Alfa Romeo At The 39th Historic Run Of The 1000 Miglia

Alfa Romeo is the Global Automotive Partner at the 39th re-enactment edition of the ‘Freccia Rossa’ (‘Red Arrow’) – famously named by Enzo Ferrari as the “most beautiful race in the world” – due to get underway in Brescia on 16 June. Part race and part adventure, this year’s 1000 Miglia will see around 400 priceless vintage cars taking part, as many as 121 of which belong to the Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia brands, making it the largest official team by default and an undisputed icon of Italian motorsport.

Alfa Romeo is also competing, lining up four prestigious cars: the 6C 1500 Super Sport (1928), the 1900 Sport Spider (1954), the 2000 Sportiva (1954) and the 1900 Super Sprint (1956). The four gems will be driven by experienced crews, among which are the Chairman of Stellantis, John Elkann, aboard the 1900 Super Sprint and multiple titleholders Giovanni Moceri and Daniele Bonetti in the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport, who won the 2019 edition in the same car. The four extraordinary models, all veritable works of art on the move, belong to the Heritage collection, the department focused on the safeguarding and promotion of the history of Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth.

All eyes will be on the stunning 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport, with bodywork by the Farina workshops: a similar version won the 1928 1000 Miglia with Giuseppe Campari and Giulio Ramponi. The model in the race aims to replicate its 2019 triumph in the historical re-enactment of the 1000 Miglia, as well as its 2005, 2007 and 2008 victories. In 2007 and 2008, it also took victory in the ‘1000 Millas Sport’ in Argentina. The sensational 1928 6C 1500 Super Sport features a 1,487cc 6-cylinder engine, delivering 76hp at 4,800 rpm and reaching a top speed of 87mph. Thirty-one of these cars were built between 1928 and 1929. Running the race under number ‘37’, the 6C 1500 Super Sport will be driven by Giovanni Moceri, former Italian champion in the Grandi Eventi ACI Sport and winner of the biggest historical races in Italy, with Daniele Bonetti alongside him.

The Chairman of Stellantis, John Elkann will lead the teams, under number ‘300’ in the 1900 Super Sprint (1956), an elegant coupé with bodywork by Touring that represents the ‘gran turismo’ class of the 20th century. ‘The family car that wins races’ was the 1900 Super Sprint’s claim to fame in the 1950s, based on the short version chassis of the 1900 saloon, fitted with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with the brand’s characteristic twin camshaft and an output of 115hp at 5,500 rpm, resulting in sporting performance that remains of note to this day. In the 1950s, it was customary for the great Italian designers to buy a mechanised chassis from Alfa Romeo, complementing it with bodywork designed and produced in-house. The most successful model was the Milan outfit Touring’s, whose version of the Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint is still considered one of the most balanced and sophisticated coupés ever produced for the Biscione brand. From 1954 to 1955, almost 300 models were produced.

The 1900 Sport Spider (1954) is a very rare racing spider – only two models of which were ever produced – fitted with the 4-cylinder twin-cam dry-sump ‘1,900’ engine, supercharged to 138hp, enabling it to reach 137mph, partly down to its weight of 880kg and its aerodynamic efficiency. Featuring Franco Scaglione’s innovative design for the Bertone workshop, the 1900 Sport Spider is fitted with 5-speed transmission and a De Dion rear axle, its performance and driveability are that of a more recent, responsive and earnest car, with great road grip. This remarkable car is due to blaze the trail out of competition under number ‘1000’.

The official Alfa Romeo line-up is completed by the extraordinary 2000 Sportiva (1954), under number ‘301’. This is another very rare piece, only two exist in the world, featuring a radiant metallic grey livery. The 2000 Sportiva – which can rightfully be considered the sister car to the 1900 Sport Spider – was designed in 1954, with the Alfa Romeo technicians aiming to produce a limited edition of high-performance cars suitable to be driven both on the road and in ‘Sport’ class competitions. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder twin-cam engine with an output of 138hp at 6,500 rpm is strictly derived from the ‘1900’ engine, enabling it to achieve 137mph, a very high speed for its era. The car also includes a 5-speed transmission, De Dion rear suspension and aluminium bodywork. Its lines are slender and elegant: the Sportiva was also made to a Bertone design by Franco Scaglione, who also created its near-contemporary the Giulietta Sprint, as well as the Giulietta SS and 33 Stradale. The 2000 Sportiva’s rear window, back and boot would be successfully repeated in the Giulietta Sprint, albeit recalibrated for the differing proportions. The driveability and performance of the 2000 Sportiva were the best in their class, so much so that driving this model remains a great pleasure in complete safety, even to this day. In the late 1960s, the De Dion rear suspension would serve as a benchmark to develop the solution employed in the 1972 Alfetta saloon.

In only a few days Alfa Romeo will be celebrating its 111th anniversary – the brand was founded on 24 June, 1910 – as well as its participation in the historical re-enactment from Brescia. On top of competing with its most stunning heritage cars, Alfa Romeo will also be taking to the streets with its current models, which will accompany the 1000 Miglia convoy as the official fleet of the organisation. The public can admire the Stelvio, the first SUV in the history of over a century of a brand that has rewritten the rules of the class, and the Giulia, the sports saloon that combines functional and dynamic beauty to achieve the best possible performance, while the Giulia and a Stelvio Quadrifoglio will be used as the competition’s official pacesetters.

The spotlight however will be on the brand-new Giulia GTA and GTAm, technically and conceptually inspired by the Giulia GTA of 1965 – the ‘Gran Turismo Alleggerita’ developed by Autodelta based on the Giulia Sprint GT that racked up sporting successes worldwide. This legend is now back on the road with the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA supercar. Derived from the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the 540hp Alfa Romeo 2.9-litre V6 Bi-Turbo engine along with the use of lightweight materials gives it a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio. It also benefits from dedicated technical solutions for its aerodynamics, alignment and handling.

The All-New Kia Sportage Revealed

Kia Corporation has today revealed the official images of the stunning all-new Sportage. The exterior challenges design norms and moves the Sportage identity into the next generation, while paying homage to its rich heritage. Tense and crisp lines ripple along the refined body, amplifying dramatic styling tensions. At the same time, clean but muscular surfaces join forces with intricate graphics to give the SUV a dynamic and assertive road presence. On the inside, a space has been created that is truly state-of-the-art, fusing high-tech sensibilities into contemporary style.

“Reinventing the Sportage gave our talented design teams a tremendous opportunity to do something new; to take inspiration from the recent brand relaunch and introduction of EV6 to inspire customers through modern and innovative SUV design. With the all-new Sportage, we didn’t simply want to take one step forward but instead move on to a different level in the SUV class,” commented Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Center.

“When you see the all-new Sportage in person, with its sleek but powerfully dynamic stance, and when you sit inside the detailed-oriented cabin with its beautifully detailed interior and first-class materials, you’ll see we have achieved those goals and set new benchmarks. In the all-new Sportage, we believe you can see the future of our brand and our products.”

Revealed earlier this year to great acclaim from the design community, Kia’s new design philosophy – Opposites United – is at the core of the all-new Sportage, influencing every aspect of its appearance and character. The principles of Opposites United will influence all future Kia designs, giving them the same basic DNA. The thought-provoking and daring philosophy strengthens the connection between design and Kia’s new brand direction, ‘Movement that inspires’.

Opposites United is formed of five pillars: Joy for Reason, Power to Progress, Technology for Life, Tension for Serenity and Bold for Nature. The last pillar – Bold for Nature – has profoundly influenced the design creation of the all-new Sportage, embodying the natural world and creating a design identity that takes a daring, emotional, modern but organic form.

The all-new Sportage is the result of a collaborative effort between Kia’s main global design network in Korea, Germany, the US, and China.

The front of the all-new Sportage creates an instant impact and thought-provoking design statement with a detailed-orientated black grille graphic stretching across the width of the face. Like an intricate web, the technical graphic pulls together the main frontal features of the all-new Sportage, crafting an imposing front volume. The elongated grille links Kia’s modern signature Tiger Nose grille – that acts as the visual focal point of the car – to the distinctive futuristic-styled boomerang-shaped DRLs (daytime running lamps), which in turn create solid boundary lines for the striking head lamps. Such intricate and technical design complexity of the front facia is delicately balanced by the simplicity of the main surfaces at the front, including the pronounced bumper.

The side profile of the all-new Sportage stays true to its sports utility DNA, with taut lines cutting across pure, clean but refined body surfaces that seamlessly blends the contrasting volumes together. Representing a first for the Sportage range, a black roof – a different colour paint option to the vehicle’s body – is now available with the new model, helping to accentuate the sporting profile and highlight the architecturally dynamic C-pillar that encompasses a deconstructed look. The addition of a chrome beltline kicks up onto the rear of the all-new Sportage and into the D-pillar, creating harmonious lines with the rear spoiler that further adds to the sporting pedigree of the car.

At the rear, the all-new Sportage maintains its strong road presence with its powerful broad shoulders, allowing the SUV to personify strength and stability. The muscular swooping fastback flows into the rear lamps, which have been crafted to give the impression that they cut into the body with fine precision, forming the outline of the rear lamp graphic and the main section of the tailgate. The razor rear lamps are connected by a slim horizontal design, giving the all-new Sportage a stunningly wide impression from the back.

Completing the design journey, a large lower graphic bumper casing at the rear uses the same philosophy as the frontal technical black grille, connecting the all-new Sportage’s rear design elements and resulting in lightness in both appearance and touch.

The interior of the all-new Sportage plays with boldness in character, offering intuitive and innovative in technology, to create a driver-orientated space that is truly state-of-the-art.

A sculpted integrated curved display with a slim crush touchscreen pad and finely detailed air vents forms the nucleus of the all-new Sportage’s spectacular cabin. The arresting curved display sweeps across the front of the Sportage, giving the cockpit great width and depth. Like the air passing through it, the three-dimensional air vents flow within the integrated curved display, reinforcing the Sportage’s contemporary and exquisitely slim cockpit feel.

The high-tech touchscreen pad along with the advanced integrated controller act as the nerve centre for driver and passenger connectivity, functionality and usability needs. Both systems have been created to be easy-to-use, highly intuitive and soft to touch.

Optimally positioned for the driver and front passenger is an ergonomic centre console that combines convenience with luxury. Finished with a high-end gloss, the console provides storage, operating system configuration, cupholders and soft-touch switches, the latter sitting on a raised profile alongside the shift-by-wire transmission dial.

The highest quality materials that are sumptuous to touch, dynamic and vibrant colour options and additional energizing finishing techniques that includes chrome and pad print ensure that the interior of the all-new Sportage is a special place to spend time while on the move. The driver and front passenger seats combine high-tech with high comfort in sporting slim shell design.

Further enhancing passenger convenience, at the rear of the driver and front passenger seats are integrated hanger-type designs within the slim headrests, allowing clothing and handbags to be easily and conveniently hooked into place.

The all-new Sportage’s intelligent interior space is shrouded in a clever combination of practicality, functionality and versatility.

For the first time in the Sportage’s history, a bolder model has been specifically designed to convey a more confident, vigorous and versatile character. The all-new Sportage X-Line features a unique bumper, side sill and curved roof rack. On the inside, customers can choose between a signature sage green or black seating, as well as bold quilting and black metal wood to further bring to life the model’s confident persona.

Due for global market launch later this year, more information on the all-new Sportage will be made available in due course.

This particularly high-quality and elaborate body finish is being used for the first time in a BMW X model. The expressive paint finish in body columns, exterior mirror bases, a black chrome finish on the frame and the bars of the BMW kidney grille create a subtle contrast to the matt shimmering body. The bold impression is also underlined by the BMW Individual roof rail high gloss shadow line. Dynamic SAV character is emphasized by aerodynamically optimized bodywork elements of the M Sport package as standard. New BMW Laserlight makes a striking impression and distributes light perfectly. Another exclusive feature is the 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design with a Jet-Black matt finish and fitted with mixed tyres.

The interior provides considerable spaciousness offering a pioneering interplay of exclusivity, functionality and freedom. The M leather steering wheel and BMW Individual equipment provide highest level of exclusivity. Superior BMW Individual Merino Full Leather upholstery comes in ‘night blue/black’ two-tone with contrasting seams, as does the BMW Individual roof liner in night blue with Alcantara finish. The upper part of instrument panel and door armrests are covered with Nappa leather in night blue. Black Merino Leather is used in the lower section of the instrument panel and on the front backrests. In addition, BMW Individual interior trim finishers in Fineline Black with aluminium inlays contribute to the fascinating aura of the edition. The centre console’s unique design is underscored by BMW Individual interior trim finishers in Piano Black finish bearing an edition logo.

Filling up the cabin with a sense of spaciousness is the large Sky Lounge Panoramic glass sunroof extending till the third row, allowing dynamic light flow throughout. The car has five-zone air conditioning with extended features. Soft close function for doors adds to increased levels of comfort. The absolute highlight in the interior is ‘Crafted Clarity’ which is a host of operational features crafted in exquisite glass that embellish the insert of the gear selector, the iDrive control wheel, the audio control button and the start/stop button.

The BMW X7 M50d is powered by 2993 cc three-litre six-cylinder diesel engine which produces an output of 400 hp and a maximum torque of 760 Nm at 2,000 – 3,000 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100 kmph in just 5.4 seconds. The superior engine performance is accompanied by the emotionally powerful sound of the M Sport exhaust system.

The eight speed steptronic sport automatic transmission performs smooth, almost imperceptible gearshifts. The new BMW X7 M50d comes as standard with the M Sport differential and a model-specific chassis set-up to sharpen the car’s agility and steering precision, giving it the unmistakable character of an M Performance model, but redefined for the luxury segment. Electronically controlled ‘Automatic Differential Brakes/Locks’ (ADB-X), extended ‘Dynamic Traction Control’ (DTC), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control help to conquer every terrain. The first-ever BMW X7 is equipped with Park Distance Control (PDC) including sensors at both the front and rear. The Adaptive 2-Axle Air Suspension enables raising and lowering of vehicle at the touch of button and automatically adjusts the height of the car to suit any given driving situation.

The modern cockpit concept BMW Live Cockpit Professional running on latest BMW Operating System 7.0 includes 3D Navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display behind the steering wheel and a 12.3-inch Control Display. Harman Kardon surround sound system with 16 speakers provides an intense musical feast for the ears.

The spread of driver assistance systems is more extensive than ever. The BMW Head-Up Display projects driving-related information onto the windscreen and directly into the driver’s field of view. It employs full-colour graphics and provides a wealth of information to the driver without having to divert their eyes from the road. Parking Assistant Plus with Surround View Camera makes parking in tight spots easier by taking over acceleration, braking as well as steering. The Reversing Assistant provides unmatched support in reversing out of a parking spot or through narrow driveways. It keeps a record of the last 50 metres driven and assists by taking over the steering.

MG6 XPOWER Unveiled

Marking the launch of the first production version under the MG XPOWER concept, the MG6 XPOWER version has been revealed globally recently.

With eye-catching and unique sport design elements, the MG6 XPOWER has an overpowering look with an ultra-wide body design and an aerodynamic body kit. Its sleek character lines and lower posture are perfectly complemented by a carbon fibre rear spoiler. The blackened taillight adopts the exclusive “X” shape, which is highly recognizable while the double pneumatic diffusers further enhance the sportiness.

Highlighting the brand’s racing genes, the overall interior is designed with contrast stitching having green and grey highlights. The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel is covered with Alacantara leather while the inner door panels are decorated with high-end suede material, which has an excellent texture.

MG6 XPOWER also provides unique “X” family customization with the logo appearing in many places such as sports seats, side skirts, centre armrest, and the door sill. MG6 XPOWER further provides each owner with a limited-edition number, which distinguishes the uniqueness of the car for every owner.

The MG6 XPOWER comes equipped with a 305 PS high-performance plug-in hybrid system, including a 1.5T Trophy in-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine and a high-power permanent magnet synchronous motor, which achieves a peak torque of 480 Nm and accelerates to 100 kmph in only six seconds. The finely calibrated chassis suspension also extends an ‘X’-treme handling experience.

The new car comes loaded with a 10-speed EDU second-generation intelligent electric drive gearbox, allowing the motor and the engine power to be seamlessly connected with faster shift response, higher transmission efficiency, and a significant improvement in driving performance.

In terms of braking, the new model is equipped with the imported racing-grade 920E 6-piston fixed callipers specially designed for the XPOWER family, which perfectly matches the performance of the chassis and further increases the braking force. The newly designed floating brake disc is matched with the newly upgraded front and rear calliper brake system to achieve high-efficiency and high-precision braking effect, achieving the performance at 33 metres from 100 to 0 kmph.

The new car is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport CUP2 high-performance semi-hot-melt patterned tyres imported from France, using dual-tread formula technology and track durability technology 2.0, to achieve high-quality turning experience through the distribution of two different rubber formulas. The outer side of the tyre adopts “polymer chain” elastomer, which brings high grip while maintaining appropriate hardness, and can still have the ultimate dry grip performance in large-angle corners; the inner side uses a harder elastomer to bring more precise steering and driving control. In addition, the widened tyres and track also further improve the driving stability of the vehicle and better resist cornering and roll.

The newly adjusted spring stabilizer bar and suspension elastic elements have greatly improved rigidity and durability. By adjusting the spring, the overall posture of the MG6 XPOWER body is reduced by 10mm, and a larger shock absorber structure with a leapfrog configuration is adopted to increase the lateral rigidity, better support performance, faster vehicle response, and improved driving comfort and stability.

With a rich history that spans nearly a century, the MG6 XPower represents a modern interpretation of the brand’s racing DNA. MG Motor recently grabbed headlines through the showcase of the Cyberster – its electric sportscar concept.
