The story of MG (Morris Garages) began in 1924 in the UK. In the years that followed, MG’s stunning sports cars and cabriolets were the ride of choice for many celebrities, including British Prime Ministers and several members of the British Royal Family.
MG has a long and storied history as an iconic British racing brand, having dominated championships the world over. Since then, MG has evolved into a modern-day innovative brand and has continued to be a style icon through the last 95 years.
Through the past decade, MG has developed new technology and independent innovative research capability, especially in traditional powertrain, new energy vehicle, internet and intelligent driving technology. The MG brand covers every segment of the mainstream passenger vehicle market, especially upper-medium vehicles including SUVs.
MG Motor has finally forayed into the Indian car market with the launch of the much-awaited Hector at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 12.18 lakhs to Rs 16.88 lakhs. The English carmaker created quite a buzz with its pre-launch campaign and adverts resulting in MG receiving 10,000+ bookings for the Hector in first month since pre-orders began on June 4. Deliveries to customers who have pre-booked the MG Hector have begun from the first week of July through its network of 120 centres across India, which the carmaker aims to expand further to 250 by September this year.
Commenting on the launch of MG Hector, Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “As MG’s first product for the Indian market, the Hector comes with ‘MG Shield’, a first-of-its-kind package in the Indian auto industry which provides complete assurance to our customers, as we continue to remain focused on disruption and differentiation. With the very distinctive design that also packs in safety, best-in-class features and competitive pricing, the MG Hector will make an impact with buyers who are looking for something very different from the normal array of cars.”
The Hector’s 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 143 PS power at a peak torque of 250 Nm while the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine will deliver 170 PS at a peak torque of 350 Nm. The MG Hector will come with a vehicle ownership package called the ‘MG Shield’. It provides private owners free-of-charge 5-year comprehensive manufacturer warranty for unlimited kilometers – the best factory warranty for any vehicle sold in India. It also includes round-the-clock roadside assistance (RSA) for a period of 5 years and no labour charges for the first 5 scheduled vehicle services.
